Graduation Requirements

Sometimes it's tough to fit band into your schedule, but it's completely doable. If you have a good attitude, like making music, and like being in a class with your band friends every semester, it will definitely be worth sticking with. BHS has some great academic counselors. If you aren't currently signed up for band, send your a counselor an email, and they will be happy to help you figure out the best schedule to fit your needs. CC Mr Thomas on your message as well, and he will help make sure your message doesn't fall through the cracks.

This is the same college bound recommendation document distributed by the BHS counseling department, with an extra column added on the right to show you what a college bound music student's course load should look like. We are very proud of our band alumni, who can be found in and out of colleges through the nation, and abroad.

This document plugs those rigorous college bound academic recommendations into a four year planning document, all while keeping a student involved in music. We all know how busy high school students can get, but musical study is good for one's heart and mind, and colleges like to see students that are both well versed in a variety of subjects, and have shown dedication and achievement in a few. Band is a great way to show colleges that you take commitments seriously.
