Three Time Earshot Jazz "NW Instrumentalist of the Year" Award Winner

A three-time Earshot Jazz "NW Instrumentalist of the Year" (2013, 2018, 2021), Seattle-born drummer and composer D'Vonne Lewis carries a rich musical lineage as the grandson of Northwest organ legend Dave Lewis, the "Godfather" of local rock and soul.

First gaining national attention as a three-time Essentially Ellington Outstanding Drum Soloist at Roosevelt High School, Lewis has since established himself as one of the region's most versatile and dynamic musicians. His extensive resume spans genres from jazz and big band to funk, hip-hop, Brazilian, and African music. He has recorded and shared the stage with a powerhouse roster of icons, including Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Macklemore, Digable Planets, and Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard.

A 2014 Stranger "Genius" Award recipient, Lewis currently serves on the Seattle Jazz Fellowship Board. He actively composes and leads several of his own projects, including the acclaimed D’Vonne Lewis’ LIMITED EDITION, bringing signature drive, soul, and rhythm to every stage.
